Burlington's Conti Named Head Of State Superintendent Association

BURLINGTON, MA -- The Massachusetts School Superintendents Association named Burlington Public Schools Superintendent Eric Conti its president for the 2018-19 school year. In a news release, Conti said he wanted to focus on expand curriculum development, as well as computer science instruction, as head of the group.

"These pathways have to be made available to all of our students - urban, rural, and suburban. We are in a 50 state competition, a global competition," Conti said. "While we have new Digital Literacy and Computer Science standards, we have to guard against standardization. Computer science is an area where over-regulation will slow us down."

Conti has been superintendent of Burlington Public Schools since 2008. The association was
formed in 1973 and its members include 277 superintendents and 148 assistant superintendents.
