Lahey Health Schedules 5K Run & Walk for Cancer

From Lahey Health:
Lahey Health will host its 13th annual 5K Cancer Walk & Run at Burlington High School on Saturday, June 23. This year's $400,000 fundraising goal will enhance a full range of cancer services offered by the Lahey Health Cancer Institute. Since the first 5K in 2005, donors have raised $2.4 million in support of cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Proceeds from this year's event will benefit patients by funding enhancements such as survivorship services, expanded genetic counseling, in-operative radiation, massage therapy and more.

"The Lahey Health 5K Cancer Walk & Run is a critical fundraiser to help support the services we provide area residents," said Paul J. Hesketh, MD, chair of the Lahey Health Cancer Institute, which provides cancer treatment at five Lahey Health hospitals. "The funds that we raise through this event truly make a difference in people's lives by giving us the resources to enhance the care we're able to provide." The Lahey Health 5K Cancer Walk & Run's presenting sponsor is Salter Healthcare (www.salterhealthcare.com), a family-owned and operated provider of short-term rehabilitation and long-term care services, with three locations in Winchester and Woburn and a reputation for excellence. The organization has been an annual corporate donor to Lahey Health hospitals and programs since 1997. "We have all been directly or indirectly affected by cancer at some point in our lives," said Richard Salter, owner and CEO of Salter Healthcare. "Lahey Health's cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment programs provide the community with state-of-the-art care. We are proud to be one of Lahey Health's community partners and pleased to be a presenting sponsor in the Cancer Run & Walk again this year to show our support for Lahey Health and its cutting- edge programs."
