Dining Coordinator - Acton
This a 20 hours a week part time position located at the Acton meal site.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Nutrition Program Director, the Dining Coordinator provides food service and volunteer management both on site in a dining room setting and the Meals on Wheels Program covering sixteen communities. The Dining Coordinator is responsible for creating and maintaining a warm and welcoming environment for the seniors who utilize the senior dining program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create a warm and welcoming dining experience for seniors living in or near the meal site to assist them in staying healthy and engaged.
- Make diligent efforts to identify and reach low-income, minority, disabled and/or isolated people aged 60 and over by using outreach methods including coordination of effort with Minuteman Senior Services’ care management staff and local agencies and current participants.
- In collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator, work with existing community groups concerned with the interests of the elderly to promote active and healthy aging such as the local Council on Aging, local social service agencies, municipal government, nursing homes, and senior groups.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, employees, and Meals on Wheels Drivers (from among dining participants and the community at large) to ensure an enduring program.
- Receive meals from catering service.
- Assist with daily Meals on Wheels coordination including cold pack production and packing hot meals into thermal bags.
- Train and supervise volunteers and/or paid Meals on Wheels Drivers regarding routes (the Dining Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of meals). Responsible for updating route sheets, scheduling volunteer MOW drivers, and monthly calendars.
- Implement and maintain food handling practices and procedures for dining and Meals on Wheels that adhere to agency standards and local fire, health, sanitation, and safety codes.
- Keep required records and statistics and supervise the counting of cash and check receipts. Make daily/weekly deposits of donations in agency bank, and deposit receipts to agency monthly. Using SharePoint, the Dining Coordinator will add monthly data and N.A.P.I.S. reports by the 15th of the month.
- Wear Minuteman apron and/or name badge.
- Attend staff meetings and appropriate training sessions.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nutrition Services including driving and delivering meals to home-bound seniors within service area when needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is indoors with office located off the dining room and kitchen areas. Interact on a regular basis with volunteers and paid drivers.

Pay Range Disclosure:
- In accordance with the Massachusetts Wage Transparency Act, the pay range for this position reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay at the time of posting. Final compensation will depend on the candidate’s experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:
- High School graduate or equivalent in work/life experience in community or social group work (paid or volunteer)
- Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of the elderly and adult disabled, including those with mental health issues
- Familiarity with the service area preferred
- Must be able to lift bags/coolers weighing a maximum of 35 lbs.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs during MOW delivery
- Ability to establish a good working relationship with participants, volunteers, and co-workers and must be detail oriented
