Burlington Awarded Green Communities Funds

Burlington has been awarded an additional $250,000 to enhance energy efficiency in town government, with the funds slated to go towards pump replacement and building management systems at Francis Wyman and Pine Glen Elementary Schools. 

“I am proud that Burlington is among the recipients of the Green Communities Grant,” said Burlington State Representative, Ken Gordon. “This funding supports energy efficiency and clean energy projects that will enhance Burlington’s energy conservation efforts and advance our sustainability goals.”  

In a letter to the town announcing the award, Green Communities Division Director Joanne Bissetta said, “The Green Communities Division looks forward to working with the Town of Burlington on your grant projects. We congratulate you on your grant award and applaud your efforts to create a cleaner energy future for your community and the Commonwealth as a whole.”Burlington joined the Green Communities program in 2020 and has made significant strides in reducing its municipal energy usage in the years since. Previous funding has been used to weatherize Town Hall and five of the six town schools, update the HVAC system at the library and the Fire Station Headquarters, and replace all lights in town buildings with LEDs.
