Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Stands United for White Ribbon Day
LHMC, community partners pledge to be part of solution to end all gender-based violence
Burlington, MA – Lahey Hospital & Medical Center (LHMC) hosted its fourth annual White Ribbon Day program on March 6, with colleagues joining community partners in pledging to be part of the solution in ending violence against women and all gender-based violence.

Speakers included LHMC President Susan Moffatt-Bruce, MD, PhD; state Sen. Cindy Friedman, D-Arlington; Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, and LHMC Director of Security, Safety and Parking Brendan Riley, MS, CHP.
The program, which was hosted by LHMC’s Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, concluded with all attendees taking the Massachusetts White Ribbon Day Pledge to promote respect, dignity and equality and be part of efforts toward ending violence against women and all gender-based violence.
The White Ribbon Campaign was created in 1991 by a group of Canadian men on the second anniversary of a massacre of 14 women. They began the White Ribbon Campaign to urge men to speak out against violence against women. The observance now includes all gender-based violence.
