The deadline for applications to the next cohort of classes Northeastern University's Next PathmakerBIO Program is coming up on May 1st, 2026. 

PathmakerBIO is a free workforce training program that prepares people for careers in life sciences, run through Northeastern University and supported by the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center. See details on the upcoming course below.



Cohort 3: Course 1A - 
Biomanufacturing Technician
May 19 – July 9, 2026


This course provides students with a broad-based introduction to biotech industry essentials, including cGMP principles, FDA regulations, safety protocols, and hands-on training in clean room operations, cell culture, bioreactor monitoring, and biomanufacturing processes. It is designed for learners seeking entry-level positions in biopharmaceutical production, such as Upstream BMT, Downstream BMT, Media Prep Technician, and Buffer Prep Technician roles.

This 8-week program consists of two in-person classes per week and one remote class per week.

Location: Northeastern University’s Biopharmaceutical Analysis Training Laboratory (BATL) in Burlington
Remote: Wed, 9am – 1pm
In-Person: Tues and Thurs, 9am – 1pm


We offer transportation from Boston to Burlington and a $3,000 stipend. 

The people most likely to apply are already among the people you serve: reliable, detail-oriented individuals who haven't found a clear path into a career that matches what they bring. No science background required. They also must meet these MLSC eligibility requirements: 

  • Massachusetts residency
  • Age (18+)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. work authorization (SSN)
  • Highest level of education (less than an associate’s degree if obtained in the U.S.)
