Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce Announces Upcoming Retirement of President Rick Parker

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Longtime community leader leaves a lasting legacy of business advocacy, collaboration and commitment to Burlington.

BURLINGTON, MA - October 22, 2026 — The Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) announces the upcoming retirement of its longtime President, Rick Parker, following 12 years of dedicated leadership and service to the business community. Throughout his tenure, Parker has been instrumental in elevating the Chamber's role and influence, transforming it into an essential resource for businesses of every size and a respected voice in the community. Under his guidance, the BACC has strengthened its relationships with local government, expanded its advocacy efforts and become a trusted organization where business owners and community leaders turn for guidance, resources, collaboration and support.

“I am proud of the growth and accomplishments the Chamber has realized in the past decade-plus of work. The Chamber world is a team-sport and I’m fortunate to have been teammates with so many knowledgeable and talented business professionals,” states Parker, “Together we worked though the unparalleled challenges of the pandemic shutdown and the impact that a work-from-home environment has on the local economy”.

For Parker, serving Burlington has always been more than a professional responsibility. A lifelong resident, small business owner and community advocate, his commitment to the town is deeply personal, “I know the importance that the business community plays in fueling our town’s budget and operations. The Chamber’s work to strengthen the relationship and collaboration with the Town’s Administration and departments remains a top priority”.

Before assuming the role of President, Parker served on the BACC Board of Directors for 2 years, bringing the perspective of a local business owner and a genuine understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Burlington's business community. His leadership has been defined by a belief that a strong business community and a strong town go hand in hand.

“What has always impressed me most about Rick is his unwavering commitment to the BACC and the small businesses that call Burlington home", said BACC Executive Committee Co-Chair Brendan Stapleton. "Having worked alongside Rick for the last 12+ years, I've seen firsthand how much he genuinely cares about this community and the people behind its businesses. For Rick, this was never just a job, it was a calling. He understands that behind every single business is a person, a family, and a livelihood worth fighting for. He spent the past 12 years making sure those businesses have a voice and someone in their corner".

A Legacy of Leadership and Community Impact
During Parker's presidency, the Chamber has grown in both its reach and its relevance, establishing itself as an important partner in Burlington's economic development and community planning efforts. His ability to bring together business leaders, municipal officials and community organizations has helped create meaningful conversations, productive partnerships and opportunities for businesses to thrive.

One of the most visible examples of this success is the continued growth of the annual Taste of Burlington. Under Parker's leadership, the event has evolved into a highly anticipated regional celebration, showcasing Burlington's vibrant restaurant and hospitality community while bringing together residents, businesses and community partners.

Equally significant is Parker's commitment to giving back. Through the BACC Charitable Foundation, the Chamber has contributed more than $125,000 to local charitable organizations and community initiatives. Guided by Parker's vision, the Foundation has helped strengthen the connection between local businesses and the nonprofit organizations serving families and individuals throughout the area.

The Chamber's work has also expanded beyond traditional networking to include business education, workforce development, economic advocacy and stronger relationships with local and regional partners. Parker has championed the idea that businesses should have not only a seat at the table, but a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their future.

A Leader Who Made a Difference
"Rick Parker has given so much more to this Chamber than his time and expertise. He has given it his heart," said Sonia Rollins, former Chairman of the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce and current member of its Board of Directors. "Having worked alongside Rick for so many years, I have seen firsthand his unwavering dedication to this organization, his commitment to his team and his genuine passion for the Burlington community. He had the vision to make it a respected voice for business, a trusted partner to our town and a place where people come together to accomplish something greater than they could on their own".

"The Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce would not be what it is today without Rick's guidance and leadership,"
Rollins continued. "He truly put us on the map. His legacy is not simply in the programs he helped build or the events he helped grow, but in the relationships he fostered, the people he empowered and the lasting impact he has made on the community we all care so deeply about."

Co-Chair Brendan Stapleton also added, "The BACC is stronger and Burlington is a better place because of [Rick's] dedication and hard work. I'm grateful to have worked alongside him all these years but even more grateful to call him a friend.”

As Parker prepares for retirement, he leaves behind an organization positioned to continue serving as a strong advocate for the business community and a valued partner in Burlington's future. “I look forward to my next chapter in life,” says Parker, “I’m sure that the Chamber will continue to be an integral component for local businesses to grow and thrive."

"Rick's retirement will mark the end of an extraordinary chapter for the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce," added Rollins. "While his presence and leadership will certainly be missed, the foundation he has built will continue to benefit our businesses and our community for years to come. We are grateful for everything he has given us and wish him nothing but happiness in this next chapter."

More information on Rick's retirement effective date, transition plans and successor information will be available in the coming weeks.
