Burlington is switching to a new emergency notification service known as RAVE. Residents and business owners can sign up for RAVE now if they wish to receive emergency and routine messages from town agencies in the future. MassDEP tightens regulations on disposal of food waste from businesses
Effective November 1, 2022, the MassDEP is lowering the threshold for the commercial organics ban so that it applies to businesses and institutions generating one-half ton or more food waste per week (see estimation guide). Hundreds of businesses and institutions have already taken steps to reduce and divert food waste from disposal, relying on a variety of different options. In the process, they have been able to reduce their disposal cost and sometimes reduce purchasing costs as well. Learn
